What is a D4 Medical?
A DVLA D4 medical examination is required by UK law for drivers who hold or are applying for a Group 2 licence — which covers lorries (C/CE), buses and coaches (D/DE). It must also be completed when renewing a taxi or private hire vehicle (PHV) licence in most UK local authority areas.
The D4 form must be completed by a GMC-registered doctor and includes vision tests, blood pressure checks, urine tests, and a full physical examination.
